Narrative

Threw some photos together in class to represent a "different realm".

The Borrowers

Has anyone seen the movie the Borrowers? The story is about this community of little people that "borrow" peoples things and live off of them. I am convinced that they exist in my life. I am notorious for losing e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. I have always imagined what it would look like if I walked into a room full of the items that I have misplaced. The narrative I am trying to express is the discovery of this imaginary place full of lost items. I want to create an image that represents this "world" where all of my things have vanished to. I am inspired by http://www.imaginaryfoundation.com/about and hope to mimic their style of work. I am interested in their creation of other dimensions and worlds.

Cyclical Nature Of Things

For this assignment, the students are asked to explore the cyclical nature of things. With these guide lines, restricitions are very minimal. To narrow down this wide array of options, I recalled certain events that have transpired in the past year. I chose to center this project around my brand new nephew and my sisters pregnancy. Still keeping Corbin (nephew) incorporated into the piece, I'd like to represent the different stages my sister underwent from the beginning to the end. I know that these "Stages" have been themes in many art pieces, so I want to stray away from making this appear too literal. Composition wise, I am interested in designing with a collage style. I intend on scanning photographs of her different stages of pregnancy month to month, ultrasounds, and other items that would add to the cycle.
